A rewarding opportunity has arisen within our exciting and expanding organisation, we are looking to appoint a well-motivated Procurement & Contracts Officer to join us on a permanent basis.

Operose Health are looking for a Procurement & Contracts Officer for 37.5 hours per week - Salary £35,000 to £45,000.   

Role Responsibility

Key duties will include:

  • Leading on crucial buying projects and competitions, to include the creation of documentation, working closely with stakeholders to develop specifications, project manage the resulting project or competition with vendors, commercial analysis, negotiating and executing the resulting contract.
  • Inter-Departmental working collaboratively for the wider improvement of the business at a high level, including but not limited to; Coordinating opportunities with sister company HCRG Care Group’s Procurement Team. Contract and legal processes with the Legal team. Operations colleagues to embed new ways of working. Finance colleagues to improve invoicing methods and address any supplier invoice issues.
  • Ensuring the correct subject matter experts are involved and utilised in competitions, to maximise both the specialist knowledge held within the business, and the resulting success of a procurement is correctly implemented
  • Support and training of staff on buying projects and competitions. Support and help develop the supplier relationship management role and ensure the procurement operations department operates efficiently and aligned with department plans.
  • Stakeholder relationship development in order to establish a projects pipeline, to “sell” the benefits of utilising Procurement to the business, and be proactive to maximise cost-saving potential.
  • Improving the buying culture and processes across the Operose Health Group with support from Executive Team.
  • Supporting the Director of Finance and Head of HCRG Care Group Procurement with any procurement or contract management related reports or requirements as required.
  • Monitoring spend post contract award and ensure adherence to contract awards as pro-actively as possible in conjunction with the Supplier Relationship Manager and key stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate

Interested? What you will need to be considered:

  • Recent experience of working within a commercial procurement setting. Ideally this would be as an experienced buyer, vendor manager or a junior category manager level. Related skillsets such as those gained working in commercial functions or contract management will also be considered.
  • Healthcare and industry knowledge. The role requires a fair knowledge of both the market we operate in, the internal demands of the business, and a wide range of supply chain markets, as such previous experience within the industry is desired
  • Good mathematical skills. The role involves commercially analysing proposals that may include a variety of fees, charging methods, external factors and with deliberate ambiguity
  • Customer focused, friendly attitude. End users and stakeholders around the business are ‘customers’. Good service leads to good relationships. Good relationships lead to opportunities to influence business spend on a large scale. An excellent email and telephone manner is essential.
  • Attention to detail and ability to critically analyse
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Ability to use initiative to solve problems, see the bigger picture and link to wider strategies
  • Ability to create strong relationships with both stakeholders and vendors, and able to influence commercially astute decisions
  • Ability to summarise and describe key upsides and downsides pre and post project, to manage key stakeholder expectations
  • Good project management skills and memory. Multi-tasking is prevalent in this role, across multi-disciplined projects
  • Good negotiation ability. Understanding how to spot and utilise leverages, and ensuring the business gets the best value from spend projects.
  • Good contract skills. Being able to interrogate long and complex contracts and being able to minimise Legal involvement is key.
